Kantha in Bengali folk means embroidered quilt.

The Kantha stitch comprises of the simplest stitch in the language of embroidery , known as the running stitch. Traditionally the women of Bengal would use the Kantha stitch to join layers of old cloth to make quilts .

The embroidery was a means of self expression of the women of Bengal. Today  a wide range of products are made using the Kantha stitch like stoles, bed covers, shawls , sarees etc.

  • Meditation mat, with two sided design.
  • Made with the kantha weave, with multiple antique fabric layers.
  • ideal as a meditation mat or just as a throw on the floor.
  • Subtle differences in color maybe observed, as in the case of comparison from the actual piece to a photographed picture.
  • Hand wash in cold water. Can be dry cleaned. Wash dark colors seperately.
